Works by figurative sculptor Sebastian Wojnar have become part of the Fresh Power collection at the EPO1 Centre for Contemporary Art in Trutnov.

The gallery, which was created in a revitalized building of a historic power plant from 1912, aims to support young artists and map the work of the youngest generation of sculptors. As part of the Fresh Power project, EPO1 acquires works by graduates of Czech sculpture schools with graduation years from 2018 onwards. The collection, which is part of the gallery's permanent exhibition, captures the diversity of artistic approaches, styles, and materials used by the current generation of sculptors.

Sebastian Wojnar is represented here by four works that represent different phases of his creative process and refer to themes of faith, strength, and humility:

Blessing I (2014) — The first sketch of a hand capturing a gesture intended for a life-size figure of the walking Christ. The plaster author's original served as a stepping stone for work on the figure.

I Offer You My Path (2017) — A sketch of the right hand, also designed for a life-size figure of Christ. The gesture of offering or extending one's hand is perceived by the author as a key moment in our lives.

Fateful Touch — A work inspired by the author's encounter with a boy with cerebral palsy. The deformed structure of the hand became for him a symbol of suffering and lifelong struggle, mental strength and humility.

Mary Magdalene - Mask (2024) — The final portrait sketch created as part of work on a life-size figure of Mary Magdalene.

Sebastian Wojnar's representation in the Fresh Power collection confirms the significance of his work in the context of contemporary Czech sculpture.
